Gas Fitting: Licensed & Local
Gas installations, repairs, leak detection and appliance servicing from licensed professionals, because gas done right is safe, and gas done wrong is dangerous.
Who can legally do gas fitting work?
Gas fitting is a licensed profession. In NSW it must be performed by a licensed gas fitter, and DIY gas work is both illegal and genuinely dangerous. Ready Plumbing is a licensed professional gas fitter handling installations, repairs, leak testing and appliance servicing across the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

Licensed & Safe
Gas: very safe done right, dangerous done wrong
Gas fitting is a licensed profession, and it requires a licensed plumber to perform the work. Gas is a highly dangerous material if not installed and managed properly, but it can be a very safe, efficient option for your home when installed correctly and looked after by a professional.
We strongly advise against anyone attempting to work on or interfere with their own gas service. There are many components on the market that are simply not compatible with gas plumbing: materials must be suitable for gas installations, and they’re different from water installations. Likewise, natural gas and LPG are different fuels: they require different gas flows and pressures, and assuming they’re interchangeable is an incorrect and dangerous assumption, with different installation requirements for each.
Ready Plumbing is a licensed professional gas fitter with extensive experience in the gas field, serving the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

The carbon monoxide point
If gas appliances are installed incorrectly, they can produce carbon monoxide, an odourless gas that is dangerous and lethal. This isn’t a scare line; it’s the core reason gas work is licensed. Making sure your gas system is installed correctly, and servicing appliances so they keep burning cleanly, provides a safe and healthy environment for your family and your home.
Think You Have A Gas Problem?
Three signs worth acting on
- Your gas bill is higher than usual with no change in usage: you may have a leak.
- You smell gas around your home: have a plumber investigate promptly.
- You hear a hissing noise from your gas service: that’s most likely a leak, and it needs professional attention.
If the smell is strong right now: don’t operate switches, ventilate, get everyone outside, and call from a safe distance. Our gas leak detection team responds 24/7.

FAQ
Gas Fitting: your questions answered
Plumbing problems can be extremely frustrating. Our licensed Sydney plumbers are here to provide fast, reliable answers and solutions.
Why can't I do small gas jobs myself?
Because the failure mode is severe: leaks, fire and carbon monoxide. Many fittings and materials on the market are not compatible with gas service (gas installations require different materials than water installations), and incorrectly installed appliances can produce carbon monoxide, which is lethal. It's licensed work for good reason.
What's the difference between natural gas and LPG?
They're different fuels requiring different gas flows and pressures, so assuming they're the same is a dangerous mistake. Appliances are built or converted for one or the other, with different installation requirements. We work with both and make sure every component matches the fuel.
What gas appliances do you install?
Gas cooktops, gas hot water systems, gas meters for homes, space heaters (room heaters), gas pool heaters, bayonet points and the associated valves and piping. Installation includes testing and compliance certification.
How do I know if I have a gas leak?
Three signs: a gas smell around your home, a hissing noise from the gas service, or a gas bill higher than usual with no change in use. Any of them warrants a professional investigation: see our gas leak detection service, available 24/7.
What is carbon monoxide and why does it matter?
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odourless gas produced when gas appliances burn incorrectly, typically due to poor installation or lack of servicing. It's dangerous and can be lethal. A correctly installed, regularly serviced gas system keeps combustion clean and your home safe.
