Gas Oven Replacement in Fairlight: Same-Day Install When Repair Isn't Worth It

The situation

A customer in Fairlight had a gas oven that had stopped working properly. It was old enough that repairing it didn’t really stack up: rather than keep spending money patching an ageing machine that would likely just fail again somewhere else, he decided it was time to replace it outright.

What we found

We came out to site and confirmed what he suspected: the oven wasn’t functioning. Once that was settled, the job became about sourcing the right replacement rather than chasing a fault. We checked the model number on the old oven and got in touch with the supplier to find the exact match, an oven that would suit what was already there: the gas connection, the cabinetry cut-out, all of it. Matching the replacement to the existing setup means the customer doesn’t end up needing cabinetry altered just to fit a different-sized unit.

The fix

With a new Westinghouse oven identified as the right match, we arranged to pick it up ourselves and came back to the property the same day to do the swap. We disconnected the old oven and pulled it out from under the cooktop, replacing the gas piping and hose feeding it rather than reusing the old fittings.

With the old unit out and the new gas connection run, we installed the new oven in position, connected it up and tested it to confirm it was working properly before calling the job done. We also took the old oven away with us, so the customer wasn’t left storing it or figuring out how to dispose of it himself.

The outcome

The customer had a working oven again the same day, without having to track down a supplier, arrange delivery, or deal with the old unit. He was happy with both how the job went and the result: a properly connected, tested gas oven ready to use that evening.
