Home Water Filtration Systems
Whole house filters, reverse osmosis drinking water and rainwater tank filtration, installed and serviced by licensed local plumbers so your family is drinking the cleanest water possible.
What water filtration system should I get for my home?
For most homes it comes down to two options that work well together: a whole house filter installed on your water service, which greatly reduces chemicals and sediment throughout the house, and a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink, which is generally considered the best option for drinking water. Ready Plumbing installs both across the Northern Beaches and North Shore, and can service and replace the filters yearly.

Why Filter
What's actually in the water reaching your tap
Water filtration is a highly recommended addition to any family home. With the mix of plastic pipes, galvanised pipes, copper pipes and more in the infrastructure and in homes themselves, those materials can affect the quality of the water you’re drinking.
Microplastics are a concern in our opinion. Many pipes in the infrastructure are plastic and are regularly worked on, which means small pieces of plastic can get into the water itself, and that makes its way into your home. The same goes for old galvanised piping, which is being removed piece by piece across Sydney but is still out there as part of the old services. Those pipes produce rust, and that rust gets into your drinking water. Copper and copper by-products are another thing entering the supply through the water service.
On top of that, the treatment process leaves chemicals in the drinking water such as fluoride, chlorine, PFAS, PFOS and others. Water filter systems are an effective solution to this.

Showers, laundry and every tap in the house run through the same filtered supply.
Options to suit your home
We can talk you through the many options of what we can provide you.

Drinking Water
Reverse osmosis for the cleanest drinking water
Installed in your kitchen cupboards, and generally considered the best option for drinking water.
Another system we highly recommend is a reverse osmosis water filtration system, which we can install in your kitchen cupboards to make sure you’re drinking the cleanest water possible. It requires a pressure tank to give you the pressure at your taps, because the water is so highly filtered that it takes a lot of force to push through the filter system.
- Pair it with a three-way kitchen mixer, giving you normal ambient cold water, hot water and filtered water from one tap
- Or run a separate standalone filtered tap on your kitchen sink
- Add a chiller so you can get cold filtered water at your convenience
Rainwater Tanks
Rainwater tank filtration
Rainwater tanks are another part of the house that, in our opinion, should have water filters. Whether it’s just a sediment filter or one for odour and taste, filtration makes tank water much better for flushing your toilets, watering your garden, and washing your clothes and cars.
These are all very easily installed, and Ready Plumbing can get it done in a fast, efficient and timely manner.

FAQ
Water Filtration: your questions answered
Plumbing problems can be extremely frustrating. Our licensed Sydney plumbers are here to provide fast, reliable answers and solutions.
Why would I need a water filter if the water is already treated?
Treated water still travels through the infrastructure and your own pipes to reach you. Plastic, galvanised and copper pipework can all affect the water you end up drinking, and chemicals used in the treatment process such as fluoride, chlorine, PFAS and PFOS remain in the supply. A filter is an effective solution to this.
What is a whole house water filter?
It's installed on your water service so everything entering the home is filtered. It can greatly reduce the chemicals and sediment within your system, and we can talk you through the options to suit your home.
Is reverse osmosis better than a standard filter?
For drinking water, yes. Reverse osmosis is generally considered the best option because it filters to a much finer level. It needs a pressure tank to give you pressure at the tap, because the water takes a lot of force to push through the filter system.
Can I get filtered water from my normal kitchen tap?
You can. We can install a three-way kitchen mixer that gives you normal cold water, hot water and filtered water from the one tap, or a separate standalone filtered water tap on your sink. We can also add a chiller so you get cold filtered water on demand.
Do rainwater tanks need filtration?
In our opinion, yes. Even a simple sediment filter plus one for odour and taste makes tank water much better for flushing toilets, watering the garden, washing clothes and washing cars. These are easily installed.
Who replaces the filters once they're installed?
We provide a yearly replacement of water filters for the services we install. If you'd rather do the simple ones yourself, we're happy to show you how to change them at your convenience.
