What does a roof plumber do?

A roof plumber handles everything on your roof that manages water: finding and fixing roof leaks, repairing and replacing flashing, guttering, downpipes and roof drainage. Ready Plumbing is fully licensed for roofing work on both tiled and Colorbond® metal roofs across the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

Roof leak detection on a tiled roof on the Northern Beaches

Roof Plumbing

Licensed roofing, from a company that understands water

Ready Plumbing is a fully licensed roofing company specialising in the fast, accurate detection, location and repair of roof leaks. Whether your property has a tiled roof or a Colorbond® metal roof, our experienced team handles it efficiently and professionally, as well as the flashing, gutters and downpipes that make up your roof’s complete water management system.

Roof leaks can be complex, and they often require a trained eye to identify the true source: water travels along battens, beams and sarking before it shows itself on a ceiling, so where the stain appears is rarely where the water gets in.

What We Handle

What we handle

  • Roof leak detection and repair: finding the true entry point and fixing it for good
  • Tile repairs: cracked and broken tiles, ridge capping and bedding
  • Colorbond roofing: rusted sheets, fixings and laps on metal roofs
  • Roof flashing repairs: damaged, corroded or poorly installed flashing around penetrations, walls and valleys
  • Leaking gutters and downpipes: the other half of most “roof” problems, handled by the same team

Why Leaks Hide

Why roof leaks hide

Not all roof leaks appear during every rainfall. Many only occur under specific weather conditions. Wind, for example, can drive rain in a particular direction and force water into vulnerable areas that vertical rain never reaches. A roof can pass ten storms and fail in the eleventh because the wind swung around.

That’s what makes professional inspection essential: we look for the conditions that produce the leak, not just the drip. And we always check the simple causes first, because blocked downpipes and leaf debris in gutters force water back under the roof edge and are behind more “roof leaks” than most people expect.

FAQ

Roofing: your questions answered

Plumbing problems can be extremely frustrating. Our licensed Sydney plumbers are here to provide fast, reliable answers and solutions.

Why does my roof only leak in certain storms?

Because not all leaks appear in every rainfall. Many only occur under specific conditions, typically when wind drives rain in a particular direction, forcing water into vulnerable areas of the roof that vertical rain never touches. That's why 'it only leaks in a southerly' is a real pattern, and why professional inspection matters.

What causes roof leaks?

The common culprits: ageing roofing materials, cracked or broken roof tiles, rusted metal roofing sheets, damaged or poorly installed flashing, general wear and tear, and incorrect or missing installation components. Blocked downpipes and leaf debris in gutters also force water back under the roof edge, a leak that starts at the gutter, not the roof.

Do you work on both tiled and metal roofs?

Yes, our team is experienced across tiled roofs and Colorbond® metal roofing, handling leak detection, repairs and the associated flashing and drainage on both.

Can blocked gutters really cause a roof leak?

Absolutely. When gutters or downpipes block, water backs up over the gutter's rear edge and into the eaves and roof cavity, presenting exactly like a roof leak. It's one of the first things we check, because the fix is far simpler than roof work.
