Vanity Replacement in Dee Why: The Job Three Other Plumbers Wouldn't Touch
A basin bowl with no bench space and no storage, and three plumbers before us who'd only replace the tap. Here's what it actually took to fit a new vanity properly.

The situation
A client in a Dee Why unit had a basin bowl in his bathroom that did one thing: let him wash his hands. No usable bench space, no storage underneath, nothing else it was good for. He wanted it gone, replaced with a proper vanity that gave him real bench space, lifted the look of the bathroom, and added storage in a cabinet underneath.
What we found
We assessed the space and the existing plumbing on site. The waste pipe position is the part that decides whether a vanity swap like this is straightforward or genuinely difficult, and knowing how to read that comes down to experience, not guesswork. It was clear this bathroom could take a properly sized vanity without a fight. We confirmed the sizing that would work in the space, recommended a vanity to suit, and suggested tapware that matched both the look he was after and the existing tap position, so nothing needed to be relocated unnecessarily.

The fix
We installed a Timberline vanity, giving him the bench space and underneath storage he’d wanted, and upgraded the tapware from matte black to brushed nickel for a cleaner, more modern finish throughout the bathroom. The job was completed on the day we told him it would be, plumbed properly and finished cleanly.

The outcome
He was thrilled with the result. It was only once we were talking through the finished job that he mentioned something that stuck with us: three other plumbers had already been out to quote before us, and all three had said the same thing, they’d replace the tap, but they didn’t want to touch the sink or install the vanity. Too complicated, not worth the risk.
That’s not a reflection on the job. It was a straightforward vanity replacement once the waste position was properly assessed. It’s a reflection on how much confidence and hands-on experience varies across the trade, and it’s exactly why we back our own judgement on jobs other plumbers walk away from.
I can’t recommend Ready Plumbing enough! Nick & James installed my new Timberline vanity and upgraded all the tapware from matte black to brushed nickel, giving my bathroom a complete modern upgrade. They plumbed everything perfectly, paid incredible attention to detail, and left the space spotless. The before/after transformation pictures speak for themselves. 10/10!
